The Aluminé region is an overlooked and under-utilized area of Patagonia fishing. Located 2 hours north of San Martin de los Andes, the town of Aluminé provides a central base for several important rivers and lakes that are seldom fished.

The presence of Auracaria trees and volcanic landscapes really distinguishes this zone from all others in Patagonia. The area and it's fishing is very reminiscent of Northern New Mexico or Southern Colorado trout fishing.

The San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche areas to the south are becoming increasingly crowded as interest in Patagonia fishing grows. With this growth, more and more rivers are being 'privatized' and access restricted because of the increased pressure on public waters.

The Northern Patagonia Fishing Club was created to give serious anglers an authentic Patagonian adventure. The intent of this project is to offer an alternative to exclusive private estancia fishing, employing the best local guides and staff to provide a professional yet truly Argentine experience.

Basing out of Aluminé allows members to fish a variety of rivers and lakes that receive very little fishing pressure. The rivers in this region are generally warmer and smaller than the rivers to the south. We consider that this area has some of the best dry fly waters in South America.

The Aluminé River itself is floatable for more than 90 miles and gives members an option for up to a 6-7 day river float with camp. No other river in Patagonia offers this as a viable option.

The common feature of all these rivers in Northern Patagonia is that they have prolific insect hatches. These rivers offer some of the best sight fishing to rising fish in all of Patagonia, and our guides have full working knowledge of fishing to these selective risers.

Meals and lodging are first rate, but designed to maintain a regional and local flavor.
